Ben Mares

I'm a freelance mathematician and scientific software engineer, working in mathematical modeling, data science, and open-source software, with a particular interest in climate and the physical sciences. Some of my projects are on GitHub. I am also a mathematical physicist, specializing in gauge theory and four-dimensional topology. I grew up in Oregon, did my undergraduate studies at Brown University, and my graduate work at MIT advised by Tom Mrowka. I was a Britton Postdoctoral Fellow at McMaster University. I was also a postdoc in Trieste, Italy at SISSA. Currently I live in France, on the border with Geneva.
